Kashiwada Mayu (柏田真由?) (Maya Kennedy in the English dub) is a minor character from Futari wa Pretty Cure and Futari wa Pretty Cure Max Heart. She is a student at Verone Academy in the same Sakura class as Nagisa and Honoka, from the second to third-year. She is a member of the art club.

Bio[]

Appearance[]

She has a similar neck-length hair cut to Nagisa's, though instead of orange, her hair is a chestnut brown. She also has paler skin and freckles.

In the episode preview for the fourth episode of the original season, Mayu was shown with a lighter hair and eye color, making her look more similar to Nagisa.

According to her character sheets, a design for Mayu's original haircut before she had it changed to resemble Nagisa's was made. In this design, her hair was in more of a box-shape with bangs split in both directions and less space between them.[1]

Personality[]

According to the Principal and Takenouchi Yoshimi, when Mayu first entered the school, she was introverted and gloomy, but became more outgoing once she joined the art club. She retains a bit of those qualities when she worries she insulted Nagisa by cutting her hair similar to hers, only for the person being imitated to note that her hairstyle looks better on Mayu. She is passionate about art, and loves to share her knowledge of it to others, such as when she worked up the courage to recommend to the class her favorite artist at the museum exhibition.FwPC04

Relationships[]

  • Misumi Nagisa: Nagisa is someone Mayu greatly admires, even cutting her similar to hers at the start of the season.

History[]

Futari wa Pretty Cure[]

According to a seating chart made for the season, Mayu sits in the second row closest to the teacher, on the farthest side closest to the door.[1]

As the class goes on a field trip to an art museum, with Nagisa and Honoka leading the trip, Mayu works up the courage to raise her hand to recommend the class take a look at her favorite but obscure artist, Mario Piccalini, whose painting, the "Stardust Banquet," is being exhibited for the first time in Japan at the museum. She is quite knowledgeable about Piccalini, impressing the girls. When Nagisa and Honoka end up separated from the group, in front of the "Stardust Banquet," Mayu appears, talking about its history, adding that looking at Piccalini's paintings gives her a sense of courage. As the field trip begins to wrap up, Mayu stays behind at the Piccalini exhibit, sketching out something in her sketchbook. When Pisard comes in to search for Pretty Cure, he sees Mayu from behind, mistaking her for Nagisa, and traps her in the "Stardust Banquet" with Piccalini. Nagisa and Honoka only realize this once the battle is over. As they wonder what to do, Mayu wakes up behind them, not remembering anything other than that she had a dream she was stargazing alongside Piccalini. As the girls head back to the bus, it's revealed that the art tool depicted in Piccalini's painting has "Mayu" written on it.FwPC04

She later appeared in the thirty-ninth episode, where she is part of the group of girls in the second-year Sakura class who create a quilt to gift Ms. Yoshimi for her wedding. Using her knowledge from the art club, she comes up with a few designs they could use for the quilt. She also appeared in the fourty-fifth episode, as her class is invited to compete in an interscholastic choir competition. She rehearses at school and performs at the event with the class.

Futari wa Pretty Cure Max Heart[]

She appears a few times in the sequel season, mostly as cameo roles. She is seen in class in the first episode, on the field trip to the cake factory in the tenth episode, on the field trip to Kyoto in the thirty-seventh episode, and at the graduation ceremony in the final episode.
