Amanogawa Kirara (天ノ川きらら?) is one of the four main Cures in Go! Princess Pretty Cure. She is a first-year student at Noble Academy and is in the same class as Haruka and later Towa.

Her alter ego is Cure Twinkle (キュアトゥインクル?), the Princess of the Stars.

Bio[]

Appearance[]

Kirara has purple eyes and lightly tanned skin, with fluffy brown hair worn in a pair of low twin-tails held by hair or bows. Her bangs are straight cut. Normally, she wears a yellow off-shoulder top with ribbon shoulder straps and a trim of pale yellow ruffles, striped light blue shorts, beige and light brown peek-toe shoes, and a purple headband with a bow, and star earrings.

In the movie she wears a white and yellow check top beneath a gold vest or shirt, black stockings with gold star print, a cream jacket to match her hat, and brown boots with fluffy cuff. Her pigtails are held with maroon bows.

As a child, her hair was shorter and styled in pigtails tied by hair ties with a yellow star on them. She wore a cream-colored top beneath denim short-style overalls with white, gold, mint-green and pink socks and purple sneakers.

As Cure Twinkle, her eyes brighten and her knee-length hair turns orange with a reddish-orange ombre on top. The style is kept the same but held by pale yellow fluffy scrunchies, and she gains a set of smaller pigtails, along with red locks on her bangs. She wears a gold tiara with a star and a pair of white bows, along with star earrings, and a pointed light yellow choker. Her white top has yellow pointed detail to give it a star shape, with yellow fabric wrapped around the chest adorned by a gold sphere with a purple bow. Her orange belt has a gold four-point shape at the middle. Her skirt is a light yellow tutu with yellow scalloped lining and purple puffy petticoat, and on the back is a ruffled light yellow ribbon. She also gains pointed cream sleeves, white gloves with an orange wrist, and white boots with yellow and orange cuff, and an orange sole.

In Mode Elegant, her outfit is modified based on whatever mode she activates. When in its basic form, her now floor-length skirt becomes scalloped layers of white, light purple, and purple, with a split white peplum over it. Over this is yellow ruffled fabric, with a pair of light yellow stars on each side connected by a chain of light pink spheres and purple diamonds.

In her Mode Elegant Lunar, she gets crescent earrings. Around her chest is a pointed off-white shawl held by a blue bow with star and crescent ornament. Her skirt turns light blue, milk blue, and white, with the peplum now ruffled. Over the skirting is a chain of decorative crescents, with a purple sphere and a gold gem star on the center piece.

In her Mode Elegant Shooting Star, she gains a pair of gold star earrings with dangles, and her neck piece turns white. Her chest piece turns into a gold star and gains purple stripes, while her sleeves become gold and off-white striped with a white point cuff. Hanging from the points of her top are violet star gems, and in the center is a piece of light yellow fabric line in yellow. Her belt is now purple with the design in the middle an orange gem. Her skirt layers turn lilac, pastel purple, and light purple, with an off-white pointed peplum beneath partially bunched gold fabric held on each side by a large violet star. Her wrist pieces are goldenrod.

In her Mode Elegant Ginga, her hair thickens and grows longer with an additional scrunchie and star decorations. The bows holding her pigtails become wing shaped, and she gains a white decorative necklace. Her white floor-length dress has layers of off-shoulder ruffes and a pale yellow ribbon on the chest with an orange star. At the navel is a big white bow with a gold sphere and bunched, pale yellow fabric wrapped around the skirt. The top layer of skirting has gold lining and a layered white, yellow, and pale yellow ruffled ribbon on each side, adorned by a purple sphere with an orange star. The second skirt layer is white scalloped with a stripe of gold, followed by a petticoat covered with gold stars. Her gloves have a layered cuff and yellow wrist. During Royal, she gains a large, gold and white star lace ribbon on the back.

In her Grand Princess form, her hair is curlier and she gains a gold decorative crown with an orange gem heart. Her white choker has a bow on the front and a star at the middle. She wears a white and gold dress with a ruffled split along the seam to reveal white to gold scalloped layer lined in gold, and an off-white petticoat. Around the shoulder is a large gold cape with fluffy hood lining and white lined bottom, a pastel purple bow cravat rests in the middle with a gold center. Her wrist pieces are gold.

In her Mode Elegant Halloween, she wears white scrunchies and three yellow flowers with a pair of curled, light green strands. Her neck piece is ruffled. She wears a puffy pale yellow and white dress with frilly strips and a large gold sphere above a chain of pearls, which connect to a leafy yellow flower adorned by a gold gem. Long, curled light green ribbon hangs from the flower. Her skirt is line by ruffles and shaped to reveal two ruffled white layers beneath it. Her sleeves become ruffled layers, and her wrist pieces are now yellow with a new cuff shape.

As an adult shown in episode 50, she wears a yellow outfit with small star earrings, a gold bracelet, a navy blue purse, and a white headband. Her hair is now cut short, just passing her shoulders.

Personality[]

Kirara moves primarily at her own pace, but while she is friendly and playful -especially with those she considers close- she handles herself maturely and is admired for her prettiness and charm. She is nice, but strict with herself and always serious when working or handling Pretty Cure duty, to the point that she was considering quitting her job as a model, despite how much she enjoyed it to solely focus on that. She is usually sweet, but she can be headstrong at times.

Influenced by her famous mother Amanogawa Stella, she strives to be a top model, and she has the strength to pursue it head-on. Therefore, she is highly active as a model and appears in many magazines and fashion shows. Being a fashionista, she loves wearing new outfits to display herself, and she likes giving others advice.

Kirara has a bit of a sweet tooth at times, with her favorite sweet being Marble Doughnuts.

Relationships[]

  • Haruno Haruka: The two of them are classmates at Noble Academy. During Kirara's fashion show, Haruka goes backstage with some donuts to give Kirara something to eat before the second show began. She even gave her a nickname "HaruHaru" because Haruka's name contains two "Harus".
  • Kaido Minami: Kirara is the first person to call her "Minamin" without adding -san or -sama like the other students, and they share a friendly relationship.
  • Amanogawa Stella: Stella is Kirara's mother and a popular professional model. In episode 17, Stella is invited to do a fashion show with Kirara. During practice, Kirara stumbles on the runway and starts to feel the pressure of working with her mother. This causes a rift in their relationship as she wanted to be as perfect as Stella but she did not want to help. On the night of the show, Twilight and Shut appear before it starts and captures Stella, creating mother and daughter Zetsuborgs. As the battle continued, Cure Twinkle vowed to protect her mother's dream, which was to walk the runway with her daughter. Her determination causes the Miracle Shooting Star Dress Up Key to appear and uses it to help defeat the Zetsuborgs. Their relationship was then mended as they both walked the runway and Kirara officially proclaims that she wanted to be just like her mother.
  • Akagi Towa: In episode 24, it is revealed that the two of them are roommates. They had a hard time getting along at first due to Towa's lack of knowledge and Kirara's busy modeling schedule. However they soon become friends. Kirara calls her "Towachi."

Etymology[]

Amanogawa (天ノ川?): Ama (?) means 'sky', No (?) means 'in' and Gawa (?) means 'river'. So, the full meaning of "Amanogawa" is 'River in the sky'. 'Amanogawa' is also the Japanese name of the Milky Way, which is a more suitable meaning because Cure Twinkle is the Princess of Stars.

Kirara (きらら?) means either 'mica' or 'isinglass'. It sounds very similar to "kirakira" which means 'sparkly' or 'glittery'.

Cure Twinkle means the source of light, shines with a flickering light and glimmer.

History[]

Becoming Cure Twinkle[]

Upon learning that Kirara found the third Princess Perfume, Haruka, Minami, Pafu and Aroma find the class she is in to talk to her, but she brushes them off. Later, the group head to Yumegahama Town where Kirara is doing a photo shoot, when Close appears with a Zetsuborg. The two Cures defeated it and confront Kirara about the perfume, but she returns it to them, thinking it was a gift from a fan. Still determined to find out if she is the third Pretty Cure, they attend a fashion show she was participating in. In her dressing room, Kirara finds a Dress Up Key in her make up case and wears it as a necklace. During the second part of the show, Close appears again and creates a Fashion Model Zetsuborg to attack the venue, causing everyone except for Kirara and the two Cures to evacuate. The duo transform but were defeated, so Kirara took matters into her own hands to protect her show. Suddenly, her Dress Up Key shines, so Aroma gives Kirara the Princess Perfume, so she can transform into Cure Twinkle. After quickly purifying the Zetsuborg with Twinkle Humming, she returns the perfume yet again, saying she was too busy to be a Pretty Cure. However, after realizing how supportive Haruka is towards her, she later decides to become part of the team.

Rivalry With Ranko[]

One day, Kirara is invited to be on "Sunday GOGO" to promote her favorite donuts shop, Marble Donuts. However, things quickly goes downhill because she has to work with the Ranko, where she begins to hate Ranko's immaturity and arrogance. The two girls clash with each other, especially after Kirara wins the first two rounds. During the donuts costume race, Kirara once again wins, but still saves Ranko when she has her dream trapped by Shut. Kirara later vows to never do television broadcasting again due to her unhappy experience with Ranko, but Ranko ignores her and vows to not lose to her next time.

Sharing Her Dream With Her Mother[]

When Kirara is preparing for her first official runway debut, she encounters her mother Stella. Her mother, filled with excitement, ignores her feelings and forcibly takes her and her friends around the city. Stella is unaware of how nervous Kirara feels and tells Kirara to liven up, resulting in Kirara snapping at her lack of concern. That night, however, Kirara still shows how deeply she cares for her mother by saving Stella, who gets trapped in a cage by Twilight and Shut, granting Twinkle her Miracle Shooting Star Dress Up Key. Afterwards, Stella tells Kirara that her new dream is about both of them becoming top models together, which Kirara promises to fulfil in the near future.

Becoming Friends With Towa[]

After Towa is freed from Dyspear's brainwashing, Kirara is delighted to have Towa as her new classmate and roommate. But as Kirara's own workload as a model increases, she becomes unable to balance her modelling career and friendship with Towa, feeling frustrated that Towa is struggling to adjust to life in Noble Academy. However, when Kirara is trying to help Towa retrieve a sheet during laundry, Towa tells Kirara about her childhood and then teaches Kirara how to smile earnestly. Kirara begins to appreciate Towa more, and together they defeat Lock's modelling Zetsuborg with Mermaid and Flora. They have become closer friends ever since.

Losing and Regaining Dress Up Keys[]

The girls are having fun at the beach, but when she, Haruka and Minami try to find Towa and Yui, Lock appears before them. Although they appear to have defeated Lock, after the battle the trio are shocked to realize during the fight, Lock managed to steal their keys thanks to his clones, leaving them powerless and devastated. Later on, the trio come across their predecessors, the Past Princess Pretty Cure, in a forest. They bond with them and were even given three keys to transform. After their encounter with the mysterious girls, the trio regain the determination to retrieve their keys. While Towa as Scarlet stays behind to fight the Zetsuborgs Lock has summoned, the trio enter the cursed castle of Hope Kingdom, but get trapped inside the throne room. They try to get back their keys, only to be overpowered by Lock. After Haruka manages to rush to and unlock the cage, the trio retrieve their Dress Up Keys. With the help of Scarlet, they purify the castle and turn it into the Music Princess Palace and defeat Lock in their Premium Mode Elegant forms.

Between Dream and Duty[]

One day, Kirara is informed by her manager that she is chosen to be one of the main models for an upcoming Japan Collection gig, much to her excitement. She then meets the company's latest model Akehoshi Karin, who is chosen to be her assistant for her upcoming show and greatly admires her. Although Kirara tries to give Karin some advice, it is later shown that she is getting more and more busy herself. Karin later tells Kirara that she felt listless for not having a dream of her own until she bought a magazine that had Kirara on the cover, but is too flustered to tell Kirara her true aspiration.

The next day, Kirara is at the airport with her friends, as she is ready to take off, until a Zetsuborg created from Karin's dream appears. Although her friends want to help her out since they don't want her to miss the plane, Kirara can't bear to abandon Karin and believes it is her duty to protect Karin's dream. Even though Karin is saved in the end, Kirara ends up missing the plane and therefore hinders her own dream. She tells her friends that she doesn't regret giving up her own dream for others, but her friends believe that she is not frankly telling everything to them.

Later on, Kirara's friends become more concerned about her. Just as Haruka tries to talk things out with Kirara, Bauanne Baurollo appears and has a job offer for Kirara, who declines it much to his surprise. Towa, who sees how Karin is alarmed and starts crying, chases after Kirara and demands answers as well as trying to talk her back to her senses. Kirara explains to Towa that she thought she could put 200% into both modelling and being a Pretty Cure, but it didn't work out so she chose the latter duty instead.

That evening, Kirara finds a magazine with her on the cover that has a letter tucked beneath it and it turns out to be an invite to the fashion of dreams. She arrives at the location of the event to find Minami on stage, with everyone having been waiting for her. When Karin takes her turn as a model, Kirara remembers doing a similar pose with her mother when she was a child. Although Kirara bluntly complains that it wasn't that good, Haruka states that Kirara wasn't supposed to be in the audience as she recalls how amazing it was to see Kirara on stage for the first time, and tells Kirara to keep chasing her dream, which inspires Kirara to participate.

When Minami asks what her dream is, Kirara proudly answers that she wants to be the number one model in the world. After the battle against a Zetsuborg, Kirara informs her friends that she has accepted Bauanne's job offer and that she is going to Paris in spring to be the exclusive model of his brand, meaning that she isn't going to stay with her friends much longer. Aroma is doubtful on whether she can handle both her modelling career and her duty as a Cure, but she assures him that she can.

Epilogue[]

A few years later, Kirara has achieved her dream as a model and is staying in Paris, France for the time being.

Her perfume fills up with yellow liquid that she sprays around her and on her hands, feet, and body to make her gloves, boots, dress and back bow appear. She sprays the perfume once again in the air to create her tiara which she places on her head to make her hair grow longer and change color, and her earrings appear.
