Kamakura (鎌倉?) is the former home place for Hanasaki Tsubomi and her family in Heartcatch Pretty Cure! before moving to Kibougahana.

History[]

Kaoruko was initially born there and was camping in the mountains to train for a karate championship when she came across a small house where she saw a man playing his cello. They met, formed a bond and eventually got married, and had one son named Youichi. Sora made a promise with Kaoruko that he would grow a field full of lavenders and play his cello for her.HPC27

Tsubomi lived with her parents there before deciding to live in Kibougahana so they could be with Youichi's mother, Kaoruko, after witnessing their own daughter crying because she was missing them.HPC09

In episode 27, the Cures along with Kaoruko visited the town in order to attend a festival and also meet one of Tsubomi's childhood friends, Mitsuru. He drove the girls and Kaoruko to the lavender field Sora had intially grown as a promise he made for his wife. However, Mitsuru wanted to give Tsubomi the music box she dropped when she was leaving for Kibougahana, but Sasorina appeared before him and turned him into a Desertrian. As a Desertrian, Mitsuru revealed some facts to Tsubomi and he was eventually saved. He also gave Tsubomi her music box.

Etymology[]

Kama means "sickle".[1]

Kura has various meanings such as "cellar", "warehouse" or "treasury"[2] which could be a reference to Kaoruko treasuring her original homeplace.

The etymology of Kamakura is uncertain. The name itself is recorded as far back as the year 712, city dates back to at least the year 1192. One theory is that it is named for having three sides surrounded by mountains, since both "kama" (cooking hearth) and "kura" (warehouse) have one side open.
